Welcome to Leadership Mountain View!

Leadership Mountain View (LMV) is an intensive public affairs/leadership development program designed to equip the community's civic leaders for effective service.

Having been an important training ground for community leaders, including alumnae Mayor Laura Macias and Representative Sally Lieber, the LMV program has developed a reputation for excellence in leadership and civic engagement.

Each year, up to 30 participants are selected to attend the nine monthly full-day seminars that make up the LMV course. The course focuses on leadership skills, knowledge of the community, and relationships between people and organizations.

LMV is a program of the Mountain View Chamber of Commerce Education Foundation, a non-profit organization. LMV has graduated over 400 community leaders since 1990. LMV is now accepting applications for the Class of 2008.

Saving Public Water

What runs hot and cold? In October, LMV members met with City Manager Kevin Duggan and the city’s Public Work Department to learn how the city manages its public resources, including the 11 million gallons of water used by Mountain View residents and commercial businesses each day.

Public Works Director Cathy Lazarus informed the class that bottled water is not only costly for the consumer but may not be as regulated as the municipal water that comes from your faucet, which is frequently and rigorously tested. It may not taste as good as bottled, but it’s cheaper than buying bottled, and saves space in our landfills.

Cathy also mentioned that soon, Mountain View residents will be required to make further efforts to reduce their water usage to help the city make up for water shortfalls due to state-wide drought.

To learn more about how to conserve water, you can schedule a visit with a water surveyor, who will to come  to your home or apartment to review your water usage, provide free low-flow showerheads and aerators (if needed) and suggest other ways for you to save water. Call (800) 548-1882 for more info.

Or if you’d like to check out Mountain View’s current restrictions on water, visit Public Works website.
