    Message from Board Member Ma:

October is a time where many farms harvest their products and the weather finally starts to cool down. It’s also Manufacturing Month and you can learn more about the California Department of Tax and Fee Administration’s partial sales tax exemption for qualified purchasers. In addition, the California Made program administered by GOBiz is designed to promote the purchase of products manufactured in California, please see page 4 for more details. On October 1st, sales and use tax rates are changing in two cities in the district – City of Seaside in Monterey County and the City of San Pablo in Contra Costa County. It’s also when applications for the California’s Property Tax Postponement Program can begin to be submitted. You can find more information on page 2. Finally, October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month. Let's work to raise awareness about the destructive effects of domestic violence by volunteering, participating in events, or wearing purple. As always, if I can be of service, please call me or members of my team at (415) 557-3000 or send me an email at Fiona.Ma@boe.ca.gov. We look forward to hearing from you.
