Chamber News: Healing and Rebuilding Together
June 03, 2020A MESSAGE FROM THE CEODear Mountain View,These past months have been extremely hard on our community. And now, beyond the pandemic, we are witnessing acts of violence that increase the level of pain, suffering, and tragedy experienced by all, and especially by people of color. As an organization fully committed to helping our businesses and our community thrive together, the Chamber of Commerce recognizes the impact and importance of reflection and action. Following Blackout Tuesday, we raise our voice and stand beside our local storefronts, corporations, non-profits, elected officials, law enforcement personnel, and the citizens of Mountain View to denounce all actions taken against persons because of their color. We are further dedicated to ensuring our workplaces are free of hate and discrimination of all types, be it based on race, gender, sexual preference, religion, national origin, or any other targets of abuse and injustice. At its core, our city is fueled by a population that fundamentally embraces and celebrates its diversity. Our businesses not only serve our community, we are our community. Employers and employees alike represent a myriad of backgrounds, cultures and heritage. We encourage all to band together in mutual understanding and support, and to put equity at the center of all we do - as we heal and rebuild, and as we re-open and re-engage. Thank you, Mountain View.More Businesses are OpeningYesterday, Santa Clara County Health Officer Dr. Sara Cody announced updates to our local Shelter in Place Order which will allow multiple sectors and activities to resume beginning this Friday, June 5th.Subject to social distancing protocols and safety requirements, the updated order:- Expands previously permitted business activity to include outdoor dining at restaurants and in-store shopping at retail locations.

CDFIs work to expand economic opportunity in low-income communities by providing access to financial products and services for local residents and businesses. These dedicated funds are intended to ensure that the PPP reaches all communities in need of relief during the COVID-19 pandemic.
