Please join Dr. Colleen O’Kane for a talk on the importance of starting physical therapy quickly after injury to facilitate a more rapid return to sport. Generally, in most injury situations, the earlier the rehabilitation intervention, the quicker the athlete will return to activities and sports. Physical therapists address not only the injury itself but diagnose the cause of the injury from posture, weakness, muscle imbalances, and sport technique and help the athlete correct the source of the problem for a full recovery.
Colleen O'Kane, DPT, MS, OCS is a board certified orthopedic physical therapist with over 25 years of experience including orthopedics and sports rehabilitation, general fitness, and sports training. She is the owner of Bodies In Motion Physical Therapy, Inc. where she and her colleagues work with athletes of all ages, both recreational and competitive, to return to sport after injury and to train for technique and performance enhancement. She uses hands on manual therapy as well as strength, power, posture, and technique training to return athletes to sport better than pre-injury. She works with non-athletes as well using the same approach to staying active, healthy, and fit. She also works with individuals and local teams for injury prevention and performance enhancement training both during and off season.
