Pear Theatre's new Pear Flambé Cabaret series continues with the D-Cup Divas and their American Cancer Society fundraiser show, “Every Heart, A Story.” This performance will include Bay Area favorites Mary Melnick (on 4/20 only), Molly Thornton Olivas, Karyn Rondeau (on 4/19 only), Karen Welch DeHart, Barbara Reynolds, Leslie Lloyd, and Kereli Sengstack. They will be accompanied by piano (Bob Sunshine) and guitar (Leslie Lloyd and Scott Harline). The D-Cup Divas began as a group of Bay Area musical theatre performers, who forged friendships through various productions and continued to spend time together after each individual show closed. Over the years, and finding common ground on life aspects other than singing and theater — marriage, motherhood, teaching, caring for parents, baseball, and (for two of the Divas) surviving breast cancer — the group bonded tightly. When the opportunity arose five years ago to sing together and raise money for the Avon Walk for Breast Cancer, the performance group was born. Since then, the D-Cup Divas have sold out performances and raised thousands of dollars. A recent performance received thunderous applause, laughter, tears, a standing ovation; and one patron's praise, "THIS is a Broadway quality show."
