Ecumenical Hunger Program (EHP), a nonprofit serving individuals and families primarily in East Palo Alto and surrounding towns, is counting on the generosity of the community to help fulfill their holiday programs.
GIFT CARD DONATIONS
This year we are in special need of gift cards from TARGET, BEST BUY, and AMAZON. These gift cards are donated to local families in need to fulfill their gift requests, as well as supply them with essential food and personal care items to help them through the holidays.
TEENAGER GIFTS
EHP takes up a special collection to be distributed to their teenage clients, who are often overlooked through other holiday giving programs. EHP sees the high demands that face our teenagers, leading them to be over-stressed and overworked. “Most of these young people are at home in a caretaker role for their younger siblings, filling in for working parents who can’t afford childcare. They are given adult responsibilities and they deserve happiness during the holidays too,” says EHP Family Services Director LaKesha Roberts.
FAMILY SHARING PROGRAM
Every holiday season, EHP provides low-income families in East Palo Alto, Palo Alto, Menlo Park and surrounding communities with food and gifts. Several years ago, EHP started a special program for families with special needs and/or experiencing extreme hardship, the EHP Family Sharing Program (formerly Adopt-a-Family). These families are matched with individuals or groups wanting to experience a more personal and direct donating experience. Family Sharing donors are provided with a wish list of specific food and new gifts items submitted by the families registered for the Family Sharing Program. Donors receive basic information about the family, including names and ages of the children and special needs or requests that the family might have.
HOLIDAY BOX / FOOD WISH LIST
EHP’s holiday food program is a special distribution of food items for the holidays. The food boxes include everything that a family might need to make Thanksgiving or Christmas dinner with plenty of leftovers for the following week. For a list of food items needed please see the holiday program section of our website.
And don't forget, you can purchase an assortment of gifts and gift cards for all your holiday needs through the EHP link of
