Community School of Music and Arts Presents /kän strekt/, Mixed Media Artwork by local artist Heidi Lubin. The exhibition will be on display in CSMAs Mohr Gallery from August 4 through October 1, 2017. There will be a reception with the artist on Friday, September 15 from 6-8pm, featuring an interactive art activity related to the work on display, as well as a cappella songs throughout the evening. /kän strekt/ is comprised of sculptures, drawings, and photography that blur the lines between fantasy and reality, desire and access, and power and powerlessness. Corporate strategies and byproducts, language and lines in housing and Craigslist apartment listings, and the Google color branding of Mountain View are reinterpreted to form a new visual language of personal experience. Heidi Lubin, a local artist currently based in Mountain View, earned her Masters of Fine Arts degree from the California College of the Arts and her Bachelors of Arts from Scripps College. Lubin engages in site-specific installations that feature sculpture, drawing, photography and performance. Her installations and performances have been featured throughout the San Francisco Bay Area including SOMArts, the Mexican Consulate and the Richmond Health Center, as well as through the FOR-SITE Foundation and at the Children's Discovery Museum of San Jose.
